OCHA will no longer accept cash payments effective 8/1/2016
Beginning August 1, 2016, The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) will no longer accept payments made by cash. Accepted payment forms are: - Personal Check - Cashiers Check - Money Order
Money Orders are available through your bank, Walmart stores, and other places. Locations to obtain a Money Order near OCHA office are:
- Western Union - 1701 N. Broadway, Santa Ana, CA - Casa Latino Express - 506 W. 17th Street, Santa Ana, CA

OWNER PORTAL: ASSISTANCECHECK
For your convenience, we are now offering a new secure, online service called AssistanceCheck. This interactive service will allow you to contact us and obtain or provide information online rather than in-person or by mail. Some of the services offered include:
- View and download monthly payments (this replaces HAPCheck)
- Request to update your contact information
- Ability to download 1099's at the end of calendar year 2016
- Additional features are scheduled to be available soon

First Lady Michelle Obama Releases Video Encouraging Landlords to Help End Veteran Homelessness
First Lady Michelle Obama released a video to landlords today encouraging them to help communities across the country end veteran homelessness.
If you are a property owner or manager who is willing to explore the possibility of renting to a homeless veteran through the VASH program, please contact LAUREN MARTINEZ at the ORANGE COUNTY HOUSING AUTHORITY at (714) 480-2705. We truly appreciate your interest in helping out homeless veterans to find decent and affordable housing.

Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8)
At this time OCHA is not accepting applications for the waiting list.
If you are in need of emergency services please contact 2-1-1 of Orange County at 888-600-4357 or dial 211.
A record number of veterans with Housing Vouchers are seeking rentals at this time. Some veterans are homeless and we are reaching out to rental property owners and managers who can make units available to house our OC veterans.

OCHA is currently accepting applications for Project Based Voucher (PBV) units for special needs Mental Health Service Act (MHSA) families located throughout Orange County. Please click here to learn more about Project- based assistance and how to apply.
OCHA is not accepting pre-applications for rental assistance at this time. If you would like a list of affordable rental housing units click on the Affordable Housing Rental List under Resources. If you need emergency housing contact 2-1-1 of Orange County at 211 or at 1-888-600-4357.
For changes in address or other family or employment changes, please complete the Waiting List Change Form and submit it to OCHA using the contact information below. This will insure that OCHA has current information to contact you in the future.

Housing Assistance Payments during the Federal Government Shutdown
OCHA anticipates no interruption in Housing Assistance Payments to participating property owners/managers. The Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) has updated its Contingency Plan which states: the “Housing Choice Voucher Program is funded on a calendar year basis, and the monthly payments for November and December are scheduled to be made timely.”
